The Afro-Latin Lounge
Hi All,
This summer promises to be a great moment for the roost with the arrival of the festivals in London and other cities in the UK where the multiplication of wheels Capoeira in special spaces such as the South Bank complex and the British museum are giving great access and visibility to Capoeira in the UK.
We will be releasing soon the South Bank Brazil Festival Capoeira program for the day July 17 and we are happy to invite the entire community of Capoeira in London and UK to attend this day.
Best,
The Kabula Team

British Summer is upon us, and the festivals are off! If you want some steps for your solo, or would just like to appreciate the rythmns and movements of West African dance more, then come and learn Doundounba with Yahz Ifea Onono. You have probably come across Yahz already- this 6ft plus, dazzling, young man- dancing, as he does, in his boistorous and energetic way, has been exciting crowds and creating quite a following on the Uk African dance and music scene, recently!Yahz was born in London to a Nigerian Mother and a Senegalese and Malian father, themselves members of a family of dancers and musicians. His Grandfather and uncle were drummers, and at the tender age of two he was introduced to drumming and dancing ; they taught him all they knew.Yahz is a gifted teacher as he has a sound knowledge of Malinke, Igbo, and Sabar dance styles, both the movements, AND ALSO the cultural significance behind them. The 6-week course will focus on:Doundounba, the dance of the strong man. Doundounba is a malinke dance, danced originally before skirmishes and after Circumcision. And,time- permitting: Egwu Dimkpa.
