SUBMISSION CALL FOR PERFORMERS

Be part of the 24th annual IABD Conference & Festival, Connecting Our Diasporas through Dance, in Toronto, Canada on January 26-29, 2012. The IABD Conference and Festival features performance opportunities for companies and artists to exhibit their work. Showcase Presentations will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Toronto-Canada.

Do not miss this opportunity to be seen on this International stage.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Deadline: Friday September 30, 2011

Please include the following in your submission:
1. Please make sure you meet the performance requirements. Give etail dates of membership and performance experience.

2. Complete contact information (name, title, mailing/email address, and telephone#)

3. Resume/CV and bio with individual name or group name

4. A brief description of the proposed work including:
a. Brief description of the performance including the performer(s) name(s), aim of the performance
b. Length (NO LONGER THAN 10 MINUTES)
c. Number of dancers/performers
d. Music (PLEASE BE ADVISED YOU WILL NEED TO GET THE REQUIRED PERMISSION)
e. Any special technical requirements

5. Please include a payment of $25 in Canadian Dollars ) Administrative Fee with every submission (money order or certified cheque only).
DO NOT SEND CASH BY MAIL!

6. DVD of work to be presented

7. Self-addressed return envelope for submissions sent within Canada only (for materials you wish returned). Please note we cannot return materials outside of Canada unless arrangements are made by submitter.

Deadline for submission is September 30, 2011. Selected performers will be notified no later the end of October 2011.

Performances requirements:
MUST BE A CURRENT MEMBER OF THE IABD*
MUST HAVE AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING EXPERIENCE
* In order to perform all Companies and Solo Artists must be current, PAID, 2012-2013 IABD members.

If selected, companies, groups and solo artists are responsible for submitting their production fee to dance Immersion. The Production Fee is $100 Canadian dollars per group.

Foot to Earth Camp is a traditional and contemporary pan-African dance, movement & yoga camp in a beautiful rural setting just outside Totnes with live music, hot showers, hot tub, fire and optional luxury yurt camping. Lead by dance and movement artist Denise Rowe and guests, Foot to Earth is an invitation to embrace the fullness of ourselves, in movement, stillness, celebration and rest. We will explore rhythm, embodiment and connection to ourselves, each other and the earth with a sense of playful exploration, each moving at their own pace, finding our common ground in fluidity around the rhythm and offering the unique medicine of ourselves into the space of all our lives.
