The Greenwich Dance Agency & Trinity Laban Partnership is inviting applications from professional dancers, choreographers and musicians to take part in a new choreographic and performance project led by award-winning choreographer Gary Clarke.
Lustrum brings together 15 dance artists and five musicians to devise, create and showcase five dance works (a solo, a duet, a trio, a quartet and a quintet) in five days; a fast and furious collaborative project driven by creative instinct and quickfire choices.
Using chance to dictate outcomes, participants will switch between the roles of choreographer and performer from day to day, experimenting with the generation of material and creation of performance work in a spontaneous, non-critical way.
This vigorous 6-day project offers a unique opportunity for a team of experienced artists to meet, network, exchange ideas, enrich and develop both choreographic and performance skills and experience staging an evening of professional work in a very short time frame. Lustrum will culminate with a public performance of all 5 new works on Friday 8 November.
To apply, please complete the form on the GDA website by 9AM on Monday 7 October 2013. http://greenwichdance.org.uk/dance/article/apply_for_gary_clarkes_lustrum/-
Please Note: LUSTRUM is a very intense project and all applicants must be willing to challenge their perceptions of making work, be able to work well as a team and work well under pressure.

Invitation to the 15th Annual Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards.
It has been 15 years since the establishment of the Annual Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards. The GAB Awards was founded in 1999 by The Trumpet newspaper (Britain’s largest distributed Black newspaper) against the backdrop of huge negative publicity against Africa and Africans orchestrated by the Western mainstream media, among others.
Our firm belief is that African countries like other nations of the world have their bad eggs – but these bad eggs constitute a very insignificant percentage in relation to the numerous Continental and Diaspora Africans who are changing and impacting lives positively around the world. It is therefore totally out of order and unacceptable to portray the vast number of Africans as fraudulent, lazy, aid seekers and benefit cheats – when we are excelling in areas including but not limited to: The Arts, Media, Banking and Finance, Architecture, Sport, Entertainment, Politics, International Relations, Health, and Business, but to mention a few.
The reality of the excellence exhibited by Africa and Africans has become more apparent and the importance of celebrating Africa and Africans more relevant. Africa is the world’s new frontier in many respects. The GAB Awards is an opportunity for the best of Africa and friends of Africa to come together to network and showcase the very best that Africa has to offer. The event also rewards excellence within the Diaspora community and continent.
It gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 15th Annual Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards which holds:
On: Sunday 27 October 2013
At: Hilton London Paddington. 146 Praed Street, London W2 1EE
From: 5pm – 11.30pm
Tickets: Regular VIP
Individual £100 £200
Couples £175 £300
Tables of 10 £875 £1500
Corporate Tables - £2500
The importance and high profile of the GAB Awards has been acknowledged by the Mayor of London. In 2007, the GAB Awards was celebrated as one of the programmes of the Mayor’s Black History Month Season.
Past events have attracted the support and presence of numerous African missions and their Heads; Royalties; Celebrities from numerous areas of human endeavour; UK and African government officials and politicians; and Organisations with an interest in Africa; because of the lofty ideals the event represents.
I will also like to mention that the October 5 deadline for the receipt of Nominations for GAB Awards 2013 is fast approaching.
Further information about Award Nominations, Tickets and Sponsorship and Marketing Opportunities are available at http://www.gabawards.com
While hoping you will be able to join other Africans and Friends of Africa at the GAB Awards on Sunday October 27, I have the pleasure to remain:
Yours Truly,
‘Femi Okutubo
Founder / CEO Trumpet GAB Awards
