Newvolutions - artist call
Wed 03 - Sat 21 January 2012
Calling all artists, dancers and theatre makers!
This coming new year Lincoln Performing Arts Centre is hosting the first event in its Newvolutions programme; an exciting way of nurturing new performance in Lincolnshire .
Newvolutions aims to support new and established practitioners working across different art forms in Lincolnshire and the wider region through work-in-progress presentations.
Throughout January LPAC will open up its spaces, resources and support to a select number of performing arts creatives so that you can have the freedom and room to experiment and evolve new ideas before testing them out on an audience.
Following this developmental period a series of final 'scratch'/work-in-progress performances will take place over four days between 18-21 January in a creative, informal atmosphere.
If you have the embryo of a show that you want to test or an innovative new idea that needs some space to develop, please submit a short proposal (no more than two sides of A4), outlining a synopsis of what you want to explore, what you hope to discover through the process, why this initiative is right for you and what sort of support you might need (level of rehearsal time, access to performers/technicians etc), and email Artistic Director Craig Morrow - cmorrow@lincoln.ac.uk <mailto:cmorrow@lincoln.ac.uk> - by 9 November 2011

Cuban Contemporary Dance with Shelly Maxwell, Thursday 17 November, 7.30pm – 9pm (class registration 7pm – 7.25pm)
Shelley's class is a fast paced Cuban technique class merging elements of la technica Cubana with her own unique contemporary flavour. The Cuban technique is loosely rooted in the Graham technique and through additional inclusions of undulations and spinal manipulations forces the dancer to master the shifting of weight through space. The class is highly physical with challenging exercises in the centre and travelling sequences that demand a sense of attack and musical dynamism. The class culminating in a challenging movement sequence to end.
