Venue: The London Studio Centre, 42 - 50 York Way, London N1 9AB (adjacent to Lincoln Lounge)

Talawa Technique Dance workshop with Thomas PrestØ, Thursday 24 November, 7pm – 9.15pm (class registration: 6.5pm – 7pm; class: 7pm – 9pm; Q & A: 9pm – 9.15pm)

This class will explore some of the foundations of the Talawa Technique. Rooted in African and Caribbean dance forms the Talawa Technique is organic system that uses the body’s own weight to create flowing movement. This movement is rich with resistance, gravity, and a control of both the small and big muscle groups that turns the body into an instrument, that can carve, draw, illustrate, undulate and vibrate in the same time and space. Participants will gain new techniques for handling poly-movement which characterise many African and Caribbean dance forms. This workshop will conclude with a 15 minute Q & A session.
