This is an e-mail just to let you all know that applications for the self-directed strand of Choreodrome at The Place are now open. Choreodrome is a biennial research and development project that offers dance artists the opportunity to research work without the pressure of a performance, to spend time on their own professional development and make connections with the community of artists present in the building. It is an open application process for artists based in the UK and working in the contemporary idiom and it’s all free. If you know choreographers who could benefit from this opportunity please do feel free to pass this information on and encourage them to apply.
Choreodrome offers the following opportunities:
• access to studio space and resources to facilitate self-directed research
• directed research workshops for both choreographers and dancers
• a facilitated sharing platform in a studio context
• talks, discussions, lunches and gatherings –both formal and informal to facilitate exchange and dialogue

Sarah Shead
Spin Arts Management operates under the creative direction of Sarah Shead. Sarah has an extensive background in arts management and development having worked at Dance4 as Continuing Professional Development Coordinator and Creative Partnerships Coordinator, Yorkshire Dance as Artists Development and Project Manager and Cida Co (Creative Industries Development Agency) as Programmes Director.
Each of these roles enabled Sarah to refine her practice as a fundraiser, producer, programmer and manager.
Sarah is a certified Relational Dynamics Coach and an Associate Coach for PANDA –Performing Arts Network and Development Agency.
In 2011 Sarah founded Spin Arts Management - a development & producing organisation that supports artists and arts organisation to proactively develop their businesses and creative ideas. Spin Arts do this by offering a range of services and expertise to help realise ambitious projects in a practical and sustainable way.
Sarah has helped numerous artists/arts organisations secure funding from Arts Council England, local authorities, a range of public sources, trusts and foundations and sponsorship.
Spin Arts has and continues to deliver a range of CPD initiatives across Yorkshire including: Training to dance students at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and York St John’s University. Delivery of ‘Catapult’ The Northern School of Contemporary Dance professional development programme, ‘Accent’ a South Yorkshire wide CPD programme, CARP – The Civic Artist Residency Programme and is currently hosting an emerging producer from the University of Leeds as part of a year in industry placement.

Songlines Tablet Edition: The wait is finally over!
Fully interactive with streaming audio, video and hyperlinks throughout, Songlines magazine is now available to read on the iPad and iPhone. Visit the iTunes App store to download the Songlines App for free, which includes free access to the Songlines 75th edition (April/May 2011). Single issues are available to purchase at £3.99, or subscribe for a year at £19.99.
Songlines Digital subscribers will soon have FREE access to the iPad edition. Log-in details will be emailed later this month.

Competition: Win tickets to Women of the World 2013 festival concerts
Women of the World (WOW), the annual global festival that celebrates women across the world, returns to the Southbank Centre this March. A programme of debates, performances and concerts seek to both highlight the achievements of and restrictions facing women today.
Friday’s festivities fittingly coincide with International Women’s day (March 8), and offer the opportunity to enjoy an evening at the Royal Festival Hall with West African singers Angélique Kidjo and Fatoumata Diawara. On Saturday March 9, Susana Baca performing tracks from her latest album, Afrodiaspora, at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.
