Dear Assoc Dance of the African Diaspora members and the All - African Diasporan Dance Community at Large,
Inspired fantastic good news to share, Paul Liburd, Contemporary dancer has been awarded this honour and if you don't know who Paul is I am sure it won't be hard to find out, he is simply one of the most gifted, generous and humble dancers to grace the British stage and his performing career has traversed modern and ballet companies in that order. He began his dance studies up in Leeds in the famed Harehills school where so so so many fantastic dancers and choreographers have emerged.
He is still quite brilliant, our Desmond Richardson I would say. I heard the news via Kenneth Tharp OBE and wanted to share. Paul is on the front cover the Black Dance book by Edward Thorpe - its now a generation out of date, a call out there for someone to take up that particular mantle and yes its Paul on the cover. There is a new class for active individuals or those who just want to keep fit. These classes are open to anyone and can be done at a place near you.
In this class you can expect to receive ways of connecting with your self through movement. You will experience techniques taught world wide. Examples are Street dance, Contemporary and AfriKan to name but a few.
