Back in the beginning of the year both Dj Cal Jader and Mister Dj Dolores were in the same line up as part of Catarina Dee Jah infamous night "Fogo no Shanah!".

Now is time to London get the vibe from both Djs as they jin a new night: Essencielo!

What is EssenCielo?

EssenCielo promotes South American Music and Arts. With Music at its core, its founders have a common objective: explore the richness of south American musical paths taking you on a journey from the green luxurious forests of Brazil straight to the island of Cuba, from the Colombian mountains through to the Peruvian coast and Argentinian lands.
Each event will focus in a specific South American region, and will depict its culture and music. Obviously, we will focus on a wide range of subjects, from social to political issues.

Who is EssenClielo ?

For a start: Brazil - (Recife-Pernambuco to Rio de Janeiro)

DJ DOLORES -Recife
Indeed, Recife locally famous for the Maracatu, tradition fro
m Africa also the band Nação Zumbi and the singer Chico Science. Known for its originality in music and creation of rhythms that you can only find there and nowhere else.

His album with the Orchestra Santa Massa, “Contraditorio?” won the BBC’s Club Global Section of their World Music Awards in 2004.

LIVE : IMPERA RI with BoTECOeletroc- Rio de Janeiro
TIM Award winning of The Best electronic album , IMPERA RI has Brazila as a source but the world as his target. Brazilian music is the focus. Folk, erudite, pop, roots, Imperatore goes where he can find that music, and use it as the source to produce his own work. In two years of research, the musician Imperatore joined all these elements together to create boTECOeletro.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: DJs

SENOR CAPEO
Afro Brazil , Latino, Cumbia, hip hop, and house, Senor Capeo himself is EssenCielo traveling around the globe with his unique style having no frontiers to make you shake being in UK, New York, Paris or Rio.

DEANY SEAGULLS
Deany's way is the best way; on decks he never keeps to one single genre, the music flows seamlessly from anything from 50s rock n roll to electronica, r&b to funk, cumbia to batucuda, unified by great songs that you just would not expect to hear together in one evening.

CAL JADER
DJ Cal Jader is one of the founders of Movimientos London and champion of new wave Latin music. His sets bring people together with the freshest Latin and global sounds, combining classic rhythms with contemporary cutting-edge and urban beats with a London twist.

ENCANTO!

Rita Benneditto ( former Rita Ribeiro) is one of the brazilian artists that has a place on our hearts and playlists for a long time!

After 10 years touring with the epic album
"Tecnomacumba" she is now releasing her new album!

Check the single
here and enjoy the sounds of this real goddess from Maranhao - Brazil!

LET'S GO TO BRAZIL!

We are very excited to take you in our sweet calendar of hot activities on not only Olinda but also Rio de Janeiro and Salvador if schedule allows!

Since 2007 our bridges between foreigners and brazilian artists/groups has lead to some amazing partnerships and we know that beside our programing many wonders will come to each of us through spontaneous situations!

Details of each activity are still being aligned and also being shaped by your responses! So speak out!

In 2014 we have the following dates and cities as main destinations:

Welcome to Dance UK's monthly e-news, auditions & jobs. This service is provided to keep you in touch with Dance UK's news and events as well as relevant news and artistic debate from members. It also includes a list of the latest dance auditions and jobs.

This month, we have been busy preparing to launch the new Performance Optimisation Package (POP) membership, Dance UK also partnered Dance Umbrella on Body Politic (a live webcast discussion on the politics of participation, which will soon be uploaded to Dance UKTV) and the Agile Fundraising Training Programme continued with Asking for Money led by Bernard Ross.

As November approaches, we have three new exciting positions available working with Dance UK and its partners: Project Manager, Marketing and Communications Manager and Digital Marketing and Membership Officer. Full information and how to apply is available through the auditions, jobs and careers section of this e-News!
This month’s e-news is sponsored by Polestar Pilates UK, one of the world's leading Pilates training organisations. Their two day Gateway course is ideal for dancers who want to integrate Pilates into their professional life. Find out more at

Dance science screening at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance
“POP membership provides dancers with the tools they need to enhance their health and wellbeing, help prevent injury and easily access specialist treatment should they require it. This package is another step forward in increasing access to specialist treatment and services for all dancers.”
Claire Farmer
NIDMS Manager (maternity cover)
Don’t go out with a bang. Start with a POP!

Dance UK’s advocacy and investment into dancers’ health continues with an exciting new membership package now available. Along with the current benefits of being a Dance UK member, the Performance Optimisation Package (POP) membership will include two health and fitness screenings per year and a tailored health cash plan. These elements are specifically designed to help dancers maintain health, fitness and optimum performance.

The package has been designed to complement the existing specialist healthcare available at the National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science (NIDMS) NHS clinics and will be invaluable for dance artists working independently or without comprehensive in-house health provision. Any individual dancer, teacher or choreographer can take out the package; companies and schools may also wish to add it to their existing offering for dancers.

The POP membership shifts focus towards injury prevention rather than cure. Dancers who sign up will be able to develop an ongoing relationship with the NIDMS healthcare and dance science team and get regular expert help to support their training and performance.

Fear of fundraising? Dance UK’s Agile Fundraising to the rescue!

Over the last three years the arts sector has seen unprecedented cuts from statutory funders, forcing arts professionals to find alternative ways to raise funds to support their work. With support from Arts Council England’s Catalyst scheme and Cause4’s Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy, Dance UK has a new fundraising training programme to help you tackle that dreadful fear of fundraising. The flexible programme features internationally recognised experts within arts fundraising and includes interactive sessions designed to unmask techniques to attract support from individuals and guide you on how to raise funds with confidence.

Speakers confirmed for the programme include John Nicholls, Founder of Arts Quarter, and Michael Kaiser, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House from 1998-2000, who in the February session will talk about his theory The Cycle, which focuses on how to sustain support through strategic programming. You can access previous sessions online now and book to attend upcoming sessions (with the choice of either attending live or watch through live streaming).

London Studio Centre Health

London Studio Centre, in common with other vocational training dance providers, recognises the vital need for today’s students to be educated in every aspect of safe dance practice. As tomorrow’s thinking dancers they must be guided and come to understand their own role and responsibilities as they progress through their training into the profession. With Dance UK’s immeasurable support and expertise, LSC has been able to build a multi-disciplinary support team for its students. Where that support is not available in-house, LSC is able to refer students to suitably qualified medical practitioners.

“Dancers should focus on the quality of training rather than the quantity. It’s all part of a healthy, balanced, dancing life to take occasional breaks.”
Erin Sanchez
Healthier Dancer Programme Manager
Dance UK
#dancersneedrest

During the summer, Dance UK and Dancing Times ran a photographic competition. There was an overwhelming response, with hundreds of pictures posted onto Facebook and Twitter from all over the world, using the hashtag #dancersneedrest. In an article first published in the October issue of Dancing Times, Erin Sanchez announces the winner and runner ups of the campaign and discusses the importance of rest.

Rest is an important issue. Why is it so difficult to find time for a break? Dance is an all-encompassing activity with intensive performance and training schedules and increasingly difficult technical and artistic demands. Dance pushes physical and artistic boundaries, and the rewards of this (seemingly) tireless drive for growth are visible on stages and in classrooms across the world. However, rest is a key component of training and performance to keep dancers in an optimum state of health and wellbeing. There is no doubt that hard work is an expectation – in fact, a requirement – to achieve the physical and artistic beauty of dance. Many dancers believe that practicing as much as possible results in the best performance, but the way you train is much more important than how much you do.

“We were always really amazed by our dads when they danced – it was so different to how we as trained dancers moved. We wanted to celebrate their unique movement, and give them the confidence to dance their own dance. We’ve learnt a lot from them.”
